x2 I couldn't imagine breeding a small breed at only 4 months of age. If anything at all, I would think it was the other way around - the larger breeds you can breed earlier because they are obviously larger at that point in time. But even still I don't know that I would breed any rabbit under 6 months of age.

I'm not familiar with large breeds tho, I've never had anything larger than a mini rex or holland lop.

My babies will be 4wks old tomorrow. They are sooo cute I don't know how I will ever part with them. Especially the chestnut. LOVE him to pieces but I really don't need another buck. the only females in this litter are a Harlie and the Frosty - which I'm keeping and my friend is taking the Harlie.

I don't have any small breeds so I don't know. Large breeds (like Flemish Giant) are big, but it takes them longer to mature. They don't finish growing until close to 2 years.

So let's just say not before 6 months for any breed!

Does anyone know what one would end up with if they bred a frosty to a magpie or harlie? My friend and I are trying to decide what our next breeding will be. I have the frosty doe and she has torts, harlies, a magpie, is getting a sable point doe....is there anything that we should definitely stay away from??

I have FG the age really varies with maturity, but The Large breeds take longer...just because they are larger its decieving, but their body takes longer to develop... at 8-12 months they should be bred for the first time....I had one that mistakenly got preg at 6 months but she was in bad condition afterward...her body was still growing.....Its kind of like cooking a turkey the smaller they are the quicker they cook...the larger ..the longer,,,, I hope im making sense lol
