Thanks for the info.  The lady had NZ and Beverens.  They may be mixed with Beverens instead of NZ. What do you think?  I know the photos are rough.  Night All.

They do look new Zealand mix to me. As for the fur, their fur does start out looking thick and wooly, but they grow into it new Zealands are supposed to have some dense and long fur (but not too long) either the mother or the father of these babies had to carry the Vienna gene, and of I recall is dominant. So if any of hers do not look like this her REW that is mother / father to these kits must carry it. Do you know if I am correct about the parents of thmem? Did you get to see them?

You guys certainly know more than I do about breeds. I'm glad you posted on that. There are two schools of thought on the fruit/veggie thing. My vets at LSU's reknown exotics clinic was very strong on not feeding anything but hay and pellets until about 5 months. Also some of the best online rabbit sites said the same as well as a breeder of champion mini Rex that I spoke to. I realize there are two schools of thought, so you can make your own decision on that. The problems I have been told it can cause if you feed these foods too soon, you might want to chose the safest way of holding off. There are great experts here and I am continually grateful for their advice. I chose to hold off feeding fruits and veggies and never regretted it.

They are certainly cross breeds but with those colors it is hard to tell what. I love the pattern on the black and white one.... It looks like a husky! Wouldn't it be so cool to have a husky colored breed of rabbit? Sure wish I had that rabbit to try to propogate that pattern.

As for veggies, I have had some vets and breeders tell me to feed all veggies and no hay or pellets. Which is about as silly as it gets since hay is the backbone of a rabbit diet. So I follow the most natural path for my rabbits without breaking the bank. Baby bunnies are exposed to all sorts of plants in the wild and never die of indigestion. It is what they are meant to eat. On the flippity flip, some domestic rabbits never get exposed to small amounts of plants as kits and may never develop the digestive function or the desire to eat them as adults. My mini lop will NOT touch most veggies. After like 4 years he will only eat carrots and dandelions if hes hungry and anything else gets trampled because I followed the no veggies advice. Adult bunnies that never eat veggies CAN die from eating too many at once.

Most rabbit pellets also include grains and their byproducts... Which are pretty unhealthy for rabbits. People all over warn you not to feed cereals and breads and stuff to rabbits but the ingredients for those things are ground up into most rabbit feeds. :p So I just kinda take vet and expert advice with a grain of salt. My rabbits eat wild carrots and dandelions and plantago and kale all year round as they grow in my back yard. Sometimes they get their paws on oak seedlings or the like while being tractored and come out no worse for the wear even though vets scream that'll kill them.

I kind of see the no veggies school of thought the same as the "no earthworms or digging for chickens because there is a chance of gapeworm" school of thought. Yeah, your rabbit wont get sick. But it is still what they're meant to eat and the number of rabbits that actually get sick is tiny anyhow.

I guess its really up to the breeder. After a decade of keeping rabbits I never had a single problem with feeding veggies to kits.

I am taking the info I receive with respect. You are all further down the rabbbit hole than I am.

. As each parent has different ways of caring for their newborns. I am trusting instinct and the most natural way. I want a healthy and hearty breed. Same approach I have taken with my chickens. Except my bunnies are getting petted a whole lot more.

I also thought the black and white one looked like a husky. Part of the reason I was drawn to her. I was shown two very large white rabbits as the parents. One definitely had blue eyes. (A white Beveren I think) I can't remember if the other had the red NZ eyes. I was so surprised by their size. She also mentioned something about carrying a certain gene. Most, if not the entire litter, I saw were black and white with the one brown and white. She also had some she called agouty (not sure how to spell it). Her rabbitry was so interesting and clean. I was really surprised. She even had a special building for them with an air conditioner for hot summer days. We get over 110 here in the summer. (that will be my next area of concern)

Knew it! :) BEW (blue eyed white) occurs Sometimes when the rabbit is born with two Vienna genes. That is just about the only way to get one. It's very rare to see a BEW that is not out of two Vienna marked rabbits. Since the BEW carried the gene needed to get Vienna Marked, the other REW had a part in determining what color they were. The brown does look like Chestnut agouti to me! :) is the other one black and white? It actually looked maybe to be a chocolate :)

I enjoy learning this new information. The black and white is not a true black. Others in the litter (am I using the right word?) were true black and white. I am wondering if the color is changing to a grayish as she gets older. Regardless, they've stolen my heart. I cleaned and re-arranged their temp home tonight. I gave them more room and a litter box. Wow, do I have happier babies. They are flitting all over the place and exploring like crazy.

OK this might sound crazy - when I was holding and petting the black and white, she snuggled close to my neck and it sounded like she was almost making a purring noise. Is that possible? Go ahead, you can laugh at me.

Not your imagination. Rabbit purr and puddle. The purr sound is made with their teeth when they are content/ happy. They settle down and make themselves like a puddle when they are relaxed. So fun. They clearly live you.

Yep as someone else said it's their teeth grinding. The light purring is a good thing. It means they are happy and content. But when they are hunched up and grinding their teeth loudly, a trip to a rabbit savvy vet might be in order. It usually means they are in pain or distress and when that is shown it can be bad. I'VE enjoyed learning the new things about rabbit genetics. I'm still learning and still have a bit to go. Being 15 doesn't help xD there's just too much to learn at one time.
