So we have a wonderful Valentine's day gift from Sunflower! She graced us w/ 4 new little ones! :love Took this photo this morning of Little Man(on right) As you can see he's about the width of the paper towel roll [/URL] Their beautiful kits This is my favorite right now because it's the first time I've gotten a facial marking like that QUOTE] Congrats! Love the last one!

I raise rabbits and have for over 20 years. I currently raise Mini Lop, French Lop and Californians and have roughly 40 head at any given time. Here's a pic of my favorite French Lop doe, Jessie

She's going to the show in Peoria IL this weekend!! She's lookin good...

Yes that's what I was thinking too! Here I was going 'ehh no problem wont be keeping or getting any more rabbits for a bit' ------Then here comes this little gem
if it has blue eyes, we have a keeper.
Tomorrow will start the gender assessments! I have gotten good at getting correct genders between 3days-1wk w/ my Lionheads & still improving on the NDs - things are soo tiny those parts take their sweet time developing!!!

I hope for a girl

..... other than the white stripe she is black otter style - the other 3 are black otters as well
Hehe when I talk about the coat colors I always get at least 1 person go wide eyed & ask how I got a pet otter

I wish I could have a pet otter! That would be awesome - so I then have to explain that saying that a rabbit who has an otter coat is not an otter but still a rabbit

40 at a time?? That's like me & my birds - chickens ducks quail everywhere! How is it taking care of many buns w/ such long ears
Do you have a big barn that they are in for the winter? Curious how things are run w/ a much larger group of furries. Hopefully I'll have moved to FL so that way I can build more open like shelter areas to expand my bunny family(currently @ 15 buns)

I didn't even know you could sex a rabbit that young.

I always wait till they are 3 weeks old, before that, everything is pretty tightly closed up.
Is there a special technique you use?

I started out waiting till the 3 wk range then w/ each litter I got less & less patient w/ finding out what my cuties were

so yeah lol

Good eyes & I have also started taking photos to keep handy for myself or others in need. Idk I have a gift for sexing different animals??? Aside from the buns, I wanted ducks last yr so I looked up how to vent sex them then went to my feed store - wanted 3 girls & one boy got those & then took one more because it was so adorable but couldn't tell because it kept pooping(another reason why I took it lol) when I got home I was able to then determine a drake - their 8 offspring was 100% accurate. Now I want to learn vent sexing on chickens because idk anyone around here who does & heard/read that it's pretty difficult.

-oh yes - I will look at each one under a light & because they are tiny(can fit 2 in 1 hand securely) I can compare 2 together if I am at first unsure of then continue, I will do this almost daily on any that I am not 100% on

Yeah. we have 40 without counting babies right now. If I count babies, I have about 60. Things run pretty smoothly around here. Between the rabbits, chickens and ducks, I keep myself pretty busy. I have them housed in an attached garage and my meat rabbits are in the basement. We raise Mini Lop, French Lop and Californian.
