What should I do for a inner ear infection? I think my Holland Lop may have one.
She shakes her head a lot and scratches her ears.
I've checked her ears for mites, but they look very clean. Could just be too early to see?

Does anyone have any good guides for raising Flemish Giants? Or a good site that lists wild greens and weeds that are safe for rabbits?... I've been looking around and haven't found anything useful about FG care

100% vet only my friends.
Rabbits are notorious for teeth, ear and eye problems and by nature hide all symptoms. So if you are seeing symptoms it really is bad already. So ASAP to the vets!!!! :(

I have chocolates in the nest box!!! I'm SO happy! I breed Silver Foxes, and back in January, my husband brought me a doe and buck from PA....I was on pins and needles waiting for this litter!! Such pretty creatures! I cannot wait to see how they grow out for me!

It's never too early with rabbits. When they show symptoms, the issue is getting bad, or is at its worst stage. Like llmjdd said, they are very good at hiding their symptoms. Inner ear infections are caused when an outer ear infection goes unnoticed and migrates to the inner ear, or from a middle ear infection which is caused by a respiratory issue. Inner ear is the most serious ear infection and must be treated with lots of antibiotics and treatment can last a long time. You must see a vet to determine the severity of the infection, and to obtain the proper medications for treatment. Any ear infection in rabbits can cause serious issues down the road such as loss of hearing., thus it is critical that you treat the problem as soon as you find it.

The rabbit that just had a litter had a rough coat. My granddaughter combed her with ther firminator this morning and said her fur was as soft as the baby fur! It still looks nappy, it'll take time to grow out evenly, but we love the nator. It's on sale right now at PetSmart. Thanks for the tip.

Is there a way, other than a vet visit, for me to tell if she has an ear infection or not?
She just seems to be scratching and cleaning her ears a lot and she shakes her head occasionally. Which sounds like either ear mites or an ear infection. Since her ears look so clean, I don't think it's ear mites.
