Sounds to me that using DE on rabbits is the same as using Sevin on chickens. Some people use it and some people would never attempt it. I've read both opinions on the DE and rabbits. So since people have used it with no negative results, I have it a try. I am one that uses Sevin in my coops and directly on my chickens. I have never had a problem with them after use. My bunnies are still doing fine after sprinkling them with it this morning. Nobody's coughing, sneezing or showing signs of irritation or illness. :)

I wasn't going youse the DE directly on the rabbits. The chickens free range around the rabbits so if I put DE in their dusting areas the rabbits would get exposure. Thanks so much. You guys are terrific. Btw, I also was going to let my rabbits run around the yard when they are older.

Cool. Thanks. One more question : my bunny "bites" me, but she doesn't seem stressed at the time and it does not seem to be aggressive and I can barely feel it. Do bunnies sometimes do this affectionately or is this the warning that she will get worse and be a biter? She is 1 year old. I have only had her a couple of months. I had a biting rabbit and don't want another one.[/quote. My friends does it affectionately

Thanks, it felt affectionate, but I was gun shy after having the growling, biting, scratching first ones.

The rabbits now have their "permanent" summer digs. All the critters have fans now. The chickens free range including scratching under the hutch which they love. Still have the one year old bunny in the "corral" in the yard during the day and hutch with a fan at night. She seems quite happy and cool under the oak tree. The chickens dust bathe under the tree and coop and fans at night. Phew!! It's hard to keep critters cool on the summer in Louisiana. And don't forget the frozen bottles!! Lol.

The big hutch with fan under the oak tree. The bunnies love the tunnels and hiding houses.

Hey!

This is just playing or indeed, affection

She won't realise it is potentially hurtful. As she grows it may begin to sting so if you yelp loudly and high pitched when she does it, she'll soon understand it hurts and show affection another way. Then you will know, if she does nip at you, she's potentially saying (politely) 'move!' Or 'go away!' Or 'play!!' ... As the nips grow, the angrier the bun is once 'playful' nipping is eliminated.

Wanted to share some last minute pics before my babies go to their new homes (one has already left)

Magpie Buck

Chestnut Buck (I think my friend is taking this one so he won't be too far from home)

Harlie Doe (friend is taking this one)

And the Frosty Doe I'll be holding onto.

Really nice colors! I am yet to see a harlequin or a magpie in person. I love the frosty too! Hehe. They haven't grown into their ears yet! Those are Hollands, right?
