Hi! I recently got a blue new Zealand male to breed to my broken black New Zealand doe. In the litter the broken black was in, her parents (broken black and black) produced a Charlie blue and a broken blue, meaning they both carry the dilute gene. I understand that is is very possible for the doe I have to hide that gene, but what is the probability?

So I own 4 rabbits. 2 Cali / New Zealand / silver fox crosses, width: 500px; height: 373px"> [/URL]
Either I'm confused, or you are. I see only one Rex-coated rabbit, namely, the blue one. The red rabbit is not a Rex. "Bonding" is something that the House Rabbit folks seem pretty big on, but the results are mixed at best. I have had older does that lived together with no problems, but I have also had young does that suddenly started ripping each other apart with little warning. If you are serious about breeding these rabbits, be prepared to have separate housing for each rabbit.
Ok I KNOW this is super old but I wanted to clarify, lol When i bought them, they were labeled as Rex MIXES. Sorry. So doesnt mean that they were Rex coated, but have rex in their mix. HOWEVER, the red rabbit was recently identified - by her tattoo # - a purebred, SQ, 4 year old thrianta. Sorry, just figured I'd clarify, even if it is old xD I had them in a colony for a while. Not my best move. However, I don't have hutches and my dad can't build any (pneumonia & the flu, fun huh) so we sold the 2 Cali's. the Rex & thrianta are bonded, and groom each other. We ended up getting a different buck since I wanted kits sooner, but no kits have arrived yet. When my dad is feeling better we'll build hutches, but right now, my trio is doing pretty good. I will separate them though, because I don't think they will breed in colony setting. But they might - it IS winter right now. Here's our new buck. I think he's a year old. Big Silver fox mix.

Hi I have a little problem with my kits. They are 10 days old today and beginning to open their eyes. I usually pull a couple out of the nest box every day to see if they are full. usually they make a noise and squirm around today they barely even moved in my hands. Should I be concerned? Is it because of their eyes? Thanks in advance

Look at this article and foto. Check their tummies twice a day. If they are not full and round, like a frog, they aren't getting enough milk. Act quickly. Buy cans of high quality kitten milk. Add a tablespoon of heavy cream and feed very slowly waitin for swallow between drops using a syringe. Feed 2times a day, 12 hours apart. Feed them by inserting the syringe on the side of their mouth behind their front teeth, there's a little opening there. Be super careful to feed drop at a time and let them swallow before the next little bit. I successfully hand feed mine from day 5.

If everything else is normal, I wouldn't worry about it. Sometimes they'll start holding still instead of running away to protect themselves as they get older.

This right here. Make sure your nest box is extra clean around the time they start opening eyes. You don't want anyone getting nest box eye.

So I have a blue New Zealand buck that I am going to breed to the Broken black doe. She had a blue broken and a blue Charlie kit in the litter with her. One of her parents was black and the other was broken black so they obviously carry the dilute gene, my question is how likely is it that she hides it also?
