Mine get those things too but until you have seen kits charging through tubes or a full sized NZW totally relaxed in her arch every day... Happiest bunnies ever. X3 I gotta buckle down and make some more. Mine don't care much for pinecones or branches after a couple minutes. Very much could just be my spoiled buns, though!

Agreed. Mine will chew a little bit on them and then just leave them be XD

Mine have 2 tunnels. One is made of twigs. They eat that one and lie in it and jump on it. They have had many of these bec eventually they eat them. The other is plastic and has a curve. They never tire of running through it. And they don't eat it. Their favorite things are tunnels. They also like their two wooden houses. They have made hay nests in them. They don't spend much time in them, they like to run across the top and run in and out.

I put a cheapo plastic ball that has a smaller ball with a bell inside it. One of the bunnies grabs it and throws it sometimes when she gets really excited. It's so cute to see. I was so worried about them today. It got to 97 here. Thankfully, my DH and I work different hours. It's cool enough in the morning when I leave. Before DH leaves at lunch time, he puts frozen water bottles in for them to lay against. When I get home, the bottles are usually just about melted. I give them fresh cold water and let them out to find their own cool spot in the grass or elsewhere. I was so happy to see how fine they were today. Am thinking before triple digits arrive, we will move them to our attached garage (which is insulated) and put an evap cooler in there for them. Don't want to push our luck too far. I am wrestling with this though. On the opposite side of our backyard fence is desert with wild rabbits who manage without. (and also get eaten by coyotes) I really want a hardy breed but not at the expense of one. OK just babbling now.

Please post pix of what you are making. Would love to see your bunnies having fun with them.

Another thing about fire z
Another thing about fire ants is that if it rains hard the colony will float together like a floating rug. My Yorkie ran into one of those floating rugs once and came into the house screaming. I threw her into the tub to wash them off. Gave her benedryl. The vet said it could have killed her. A poster on this thread lost a rabbit litter to ants. I do eliminate the ants. They can be deadly. Also my elderly mother lives with me and I don't even want to think of her running into any of those bad mammer jammers.
Thanks Primrose, I remember reading that. I am hoping there is something I can rub or spray on the legs of the hutch to prevent the ants from climbing in. I will then find out where the ants are and figure out how to eliminate them. Have gotten some suggestions. What has worked for you? I am SO tired of these nasty things. Was wishing the chickens would eat the ants but ...
