Ugh! One of my mini lop does and my mini rex doe were due Saturday. Just went to check on them and still no babies! I can feel them moving, so I know they're there......just wish they would get here! Lol

Hope ya'll can help me!!!

This is the most active rabbit thread I can find.

One of my females was apparently pregnant when I got her. She is clearly building a nest.

My question-- How long after she starts will she give birth???

Second, can I move her nest to a separate cage? Right now I have the set up with a 10'x20' enclosed run with livestock fencing buried 2ft down to keep from digging out. I have a large hutch with hay they can come & go from and a dog igloo house thing I put their food/water in to keep from rain. I bought 2 does & 2 bucks thinking I had plenty of time to separate.

I expected to have more time to build a brooder pen (I don't know if that's the right word for rabbits but you know what I mean) for mama & babies. I've only had her 2 weeks.

If she's making a nest right now she can kindle them anytime after that. It may be tonight, could be tomorrow morning, tomorrow afternoon. I've never had a rabbit wait that long after building a nest though. Do you have someplace you can move her and the nest too to keep the others away? You should be ok to move her. I moved mine once the night she made the nest and brought her inside (because it was very cold out) and she had the babies right after bringing her in. I suggest you don't carry her too much though. I always try to use a Rubbermaid bin or something like to transport from one place the other to cause the least amount of stress on the doe.

Congrats!, I'm hoping sometime in my Holland Breeding career to have bred a Chocolate...

She already had her kits!!!
(Guess that's what I get for having my husband check her nest lately!)
There were 9 total, but 2 were very small and dead. The 7 left are much bigger & wiggling around.
Fortunately my doe is very tame & handled a lot.
I have an empty hutch, but it's supposed to get cold tonight with all the rain, so I have her & her babies in a large dog crate in my bathroom.
Put down fresh hay, but moved the live babies with her fur.
Mom got a little wet from the rain so dried her off real well & put her with the babies.
Lots of fresh water, feed, & sliced up an pple- her favorite.
She doesn't seem to mind being moved, or me handling her babies. She ate the apples out of my hands. Hopefully everything goes smoothly. Definitely need to separate the pen.
I'll see if I can take a pic....
