What Sex Are These Chicks?

I have 15 chicks born June 14-17. Eleven of them come from my birds: SS Appenzeller Spitzhauben x SL Polish roo over Easter Egger hens (all chicks came from green or blue eggs). Four of them come from a friend's eggs: Lavender Orpington or Buff Orpington roos over barnyard mix hens.

Looking at the group shot I see a bunch of cockerels. Can anyone confirm cockerels? Any pullets there? Not all chicks are pictured and some are pictured more than once (they aren't cooperative for a photo shoot).

At this time, I don't see any cockerels but repost pictures when they're 8wks.

The barred chick would have to be male. The fathers you mentioned are solid, and therefore any barred chicks received the barring gene from their mother(s). A single barred female can only pass her barring gene to her male offspring. Hense, the barred chick is male.

eta, other then that, its a little early yet. Get us individual pics when they're fully feathered; between 8 and 10 weeks.

I agree with both the previous posts. They are too young to sex but none look like obvious cockerels yet.

If there is no possibility of a rooster with barring being one of the fathers, then I agree, the barred chick will be a cockerel.

This bird looks like it has some barring in the plumage too, so could also be a cockerel.

I agree with your comments about the barred chicks. Unfortunately the chicks are going on to a new home in 2 days so I'll have to get updates from their new owner. I was hoping to identify and keep a couple of pullets.
