I have a 15 week old Silkie (Jaxxie) whose sex I'm having trouble determining. I had a Sebright rooster (Meiko) that would try to court Jaxxie, and they would hang out with each other the most so I figured Jaxxie was Meiko's favourite girl because they got along really well and were always together.
I had to rehome Meiko recently though and now Jaxxie has changed a bit in personality. The day after Meiko was rehomed, Jaxxies voice got a bit deeper, and a few days later she looked like maybe she way trying to court my Polishes (walking sideways at them but no wing dropping), and today it seems like she may have crowed but hasn't done it again since, though I'll be keeping an ear out for sure. It didn't really sound like a real crow but I figured if it was one and it was her first it'd sound pretty funny until she gets the hang of it.
I have heard about hens being able to crow but none of my chickens lay yet so idk, I do think she's probably just a boy but I wanted to get some more opinions. She's gone back to using her sweet voice now that the pecking order has calmed down a bit and I've never heard a rooster sound so sweet but I guess it's possible lol. Her peck is also incredibly gentle and she does not pay any mind to my 8 week old chicks that I recently introduced and is actually being the best with them compared to my Polishes.
She doesn't have any wattles yet either and I really thought a rooster would have some by now but I don't know if Silkies take longer in that category either.
Edit: I added some pictures of her tail too
