What should I cover my ground with ??

Ok, well (ill post pics later)

I have 3 ducks, 2 drakes and a female ( the female is broody) and 2 pygmy goats.
Their pen is 1/2 rocked and 1/2 mud, i cant get grass to grow in it. Should I cover my muddy area ( except where my ducks like to play) with my "home grown Hay", which is just our long grass cut with the tractor and dried. .

Or should I leave it how it is since it will just get wt and soggy anyway with all this rain.

We are on prairie sod, and for those of you who also have it, you know that everything sinks when you get wet x(

So what should I do?

leave it how it is and not worry about it, or put hay down? Which will be come all soggy and will prolly have to be layered on... help!!!

Hay might not be the best, as it will tend to get moldy, and just end up composting if it remains wet. You could help the area by adding drain pipe, if it's practical. If not, you could try to build up an area with coarse wood chips. You may need to add a lot, but I find that they seem to keep an area dryer, as the water runs through them. If you could build a roof over part of the pen, that might help an area stay a little less messy as well.

At least with ducks, getting muddy, or wet, isn't as bad as with chickens.
