Do you sell hatching eggs? Who did you get her from?

overall i'm not happy with my hatchery marans. She is a bit skittish. I'm looking at whitmore farms welsummers, then i'll make speckled olive eggers!!!

I don't sell eggs of the Wheatens but I do of the second gen projects that derive from them. (project to get the egg color but different plumage color)

I got the Wheaties from peachick.



Yep, EE's can vary. I hear good and bad reviews on their productivity. All I know is, my last hen from McMurray was the worst layer ever. Now, my "homemade" EE's are awesome.

I'm thinking I need some 'fancy ees' like crested, frizzled, silkie feathered, speckled... i'm tired of those feed store "Americanas" that are all the same color (mostly black with some gold brown) and lay green and pink eggs. I definantly want some of peachicks birds, i've seen them auctioned before. $126 a dozen though!!! Worth it i guess, but i just know there would be some sort of freak power outage even if it were the middle of summer.

I want some chicks!

I got my marans before the hatcheries started selling them. They laid at about six months and layed alot of eggs for a couple months. Quit all together in October and started back in February. They laid good again until summer. Then again until October. Thats how at least this strain seems to lay. They are laying now but as soon as they quit the whole coop is going to freezer camp. Any hatchery birds should lay good. Most EE chickens lay pretty good but you really don't know what color they will lay until they start. Good luck to your friend and remind them to build the coop to hold at least twenty more.

x2 we started with 4 and now have 19... omg i just counted and it's actually more like 40... and they show no signs of stopping..

shes building a coop to hold 8-10 (i think) and she says she isnt gonna get attatched...

i told her not to count on it and i might tell her to make the coop bigger
