It would take many many generations of breeding and culling to develop a new breed......just to develop a new color variety that breeds true takes many generations. You can't just breed two different breeds of birds together and call it a new breed. I know you're very young so you have a lot of time to do try this....just not sure you realize what all it is going to take.

Every breed had to start somewhere. If it wasn't for Tyranasaurus Rex we wouldn't have chickens. And every breed can be traced back to the Jungle Fowl. Yes, it takes years of careful breeding but it can be done and it has been done over and over again. Good for you. If you have the patience and willingness then we wish you all the best of luck in creating your new breed. The appropriate name will come to one day as you are sitting there looking out over all your hard work and dedication. Don't be discouraged by those who don't have the willingness to see a project through like this. Keep exacting records of every step and maybe one day you will see your new bird accepted into the APA.

Maybe do a little research on some of the more recently 'created' breeds to see what is involved in the development of a true breed. You can see why it is more complicated than just putting 2 breeds together and having a new breed. I think its great to be interested in creating new things. Many beautiful, useful chickens are here today as a result of someone with your excitement.

Be sure to have a goal in mind. Are you trying to develop a better layer? A different color or size egg? What traits of the Sussex and the Wyandotte do you hope to improve by blending them. If you have a goal then you can 'plan your work and work your plan'

Someday when you are interviewed by a Poultry Magazine about your work, you can tell them all about method, your plan and your goals from waaay back when you started.

Bingo. Creating a breed takes YEARS, lots of experience and focus, and an actual objective.

Like I said , do some research and dont' let the negative comments discourage you. Instead focus on those who will support you. Yes it will take years but all good things take time.
