What silly things are your chickens scared of???

My big, floppy gardening hat. If I go out in any other hat or without, they are fine. I walk out the door with my big sun blocker on, they go ballistic. The funniest thing is that I can stand there, take it off and they'll come running to me. I put it back on, they run away screaming. Goofy broads.

The other day my SF rooster was picking up the orange extension cord I use for their heated waterer and making the "I've got treats!" noise, but it didn't fool the girls. They're usually all afraid of snakey things, but I guess my roo didn't get that memo.

They only really seem to be afraid of small dogs. The big dogs in the neighborhood don't phase them, but if my little 7lb dog goes running towards their fence, there are feathers and chicken-shaped clouds of dust in the air and the birds are nowhere to be seen.

Also, I magically turn into a stranger when I wear a hat. It is no longer me, and they cannot trust a stranger.

LOL!!! He takes his job VERY seriously!

When we have bad weather and they reverse the flight pattern into the local airports, my girls FREAK when FedEx planes fly over. SouthWest and all the others are okay. But those FedEx planes are SCARY!!! Go figure.

I have a hen that lives in the house, and she is terrified of the swiffer mop, the vacuum, and she gets really scared if anyone walks through the room carrying something big, like a box, laundry basket, etc.

My outdoor girls are scared of brooms, and music  .

Strut the Beannie Baby rooster.

I have a crazy hen who has twice now eaten too many leaves and got them stuck in her crop. So had her back at the vet on Friday to flush it out. The vet recommended keeping her quite and in the house for the weekend.

Well, hubby thought she looked lonely and could use a buddy so he brought the beannie baby up to the dog crate and she went NUTS. Started SCREAMING and BAWK BAWK BAWK BAGAWKING for about 5 minutes before I got her to calm back down.

Now that is funny.

I have one hen that she gets freaked out by anything. She used to be scared to death of the cat until one day she found out that if she pecked at him he would run, now she torments the crap out of him and even steals his dead birds and mice from him. However she got scared one day of a mocking bird and when the cat tried to attack it, she became his new girl friend. She now follows the cat every wheres. Of course she still thinks it is fun to mess with him.

I was really surprised. I wouldn't have let him do it if I thought she'd have even half that crazy of a reaction. I really thought that she could tell the difference between a fake, fuzzy, fluorescent orange and pink stuffed toy and a real chicken. Guess not!

I'm actually sorry I didn't get it on video.
