What silly things are your chickens scared of???

I was really surprised. I wouldn't have let him do it if I thought she'd have even half that crazy of a reaction. I really thought that she could tell the difference between a fake, fuzzy, fluorescent orange and pink stuffed toy and a real chicken. Guess not!

I'm actually sorry I didn't get it on video.

Hey at least she was scared. I told my old hen smarty one day if she wanted cat food follow the cat around because he pooped it out. Low and behold she followed him around all day long.

Poor cat finally left the yard and the look on her face was priceless.

My chickens are afraid of the usual things, but their most silly fear is plaid. My three month olds and my one month olds will not come near me when I am wearing a plaid shirt. It could be 2 colors, 7 colors, large or small patterned plaid, they all run away once they look up away from the food in my hand, all while making their shrill "what is that!" noise.

A most of my chickens really don't like garbage bags. If you even open it they all take off behind the barn as fast as their little legs can carry them! Even my goat!

My flock is afraid of the color red, so NO clothes with a lot of red. And anything that drops off a shelf is a monster.

They feed off of each other. One hen gets spooked then she calls out, and then gets the other girls, who hear it and it goes from coop to coop, like someone lighting signal fires. I have wheeled out there on my walker, and the first one calms down, then the next and next. Then all is quiet again.

Oh, and forgot to mention, sunshine. When it is shady, and then suddenly the sun comes out, they run like crazy to get underneath the coop

Yea, one time I put a harness and leash on Buttermilk (hey don't judge) and I put the leash on and she went ballistic. I guess she thought it was a snake. :p
I made a harness for my hen, Henrietta, out of some blue ribbon. So cute! She is the only hen that tolerates walking on it and having it slipped over her head.

My son and I have chickens that are afraid of my big oversized yellow umbrella. While at first I couldn't quite understand why, I think they see it as some sort of oversized chicken or bird or something because if I open and close it quickly, it makes a sound like wings of a bird and they don't like it. The smaller chickens don't care about the umbrella.
