What size drill bit for nipple?

My plan is for a hanging five gallon bucket. Already have the threaded nipples from QC supply. I know this is covered in previous threads and on the farmtek website but I have seen two different sizes. Thanks for the help with this and numerous other questions I answered simply by reading other threads.

Hold your drill bit up beside the threaded portion of the nipple.
You should just be able to see threads on each side, with the bit covering the entire center portion of the nipple.
