47 geese? I can only imagine!
Make that 44… I think. I sold some, have given a few to friends that lost birds. Can’t remember exactly haha here’s a gaggle photo from this morning. There’s about a dozen goslings in the distance down the hill. They were introduced last night but they may be a little small to merge. I’ll have to keep watch today.

When I started last year I planned on just keeping my number to the 4 I started with until they turned 3-4 then I'd add a few more to keep egg production up. Unfortunately wet fowl pox took out 2 of them so I had no choice but to get more chicks this year as I don't consider 2 to be a proper flock or particularly good for their mental health (I remember one day Parsley was in the coop laying an egg and Thyme was calling out loudly. She quieted down after I went out there and picked her up). I was going to just order 4-5 more but the only hatch date that had all the breeds I wanted was March 4 and the order minimum was 8 for that date, so I ordered 8 birds. One of the chicks unfortunately died from failure to thrive and Thyme got killed by 2 of my neighbor's loose dogs so I was down to 1 adult and 7 chicks. Thankfully the chicks were ready to go outside by the time Thyme died so they went outside after the dog issue was addressed and the temp expansion to the old coop was finished. Just as I finally finished integrating the chicks (which was a long process as Parsley is somewhat aggressive) I found Parsley dead on the coop floor one evening when I went out to put them up for the night. I assume she had a heart attack 'cause she was uninjured and wasn't sick. So I now have 7 pullets who are doing very well. Given what I went through I would probably not go too much under that 'cause stuff happens
