OK....so a little background! These were from my son's hatching unit....I spoke to the place they got the eggs from, and I was told they were hatching easter eggers, cinnamon queens and black stars...
These guy are black stars....and they were all black with zero white (female)....they hatched literally a day or so from each other, and one is significantly more developed than the other....The one who hatched first is pretty much fully feathered and has the gold type mottling on the chest.....the other? LOL....MUCH smaller, hasn't grown a tail, and has a *blue hue to the feathering.....plus has a lot of chick fluff left....
The comb isn't that much bigger than the other one - I pick them up and they both do the "leg pull up" vs. the "stretch out" that a roo may do....
Do you think it may be a roo? Or maybe a different egg got in there and it is not a black star? Could it just be underdeveloped? FWIW, there was an issue with the incubator in the classroom and there were a few that dried out (humidity) and needed to be helped from the shell....all lived except for 1....these 2 were fine though.....we also had a 3 legged chick....
