What the HECK?

my Button quail hen has been setting on eggs, but every time she comes out of her nest she makes strange peep noises, runs around doing (what I would call) a dance. stomping her feet super fast and walking backward and spinning in circles with her mouth(beak) open. then she falls on the ground panting then stands up ruffles up her feathers and does it again. does anyone know what the heck she is doing???

she does this twice a day every day, she has been doing it for a week and 2 days.

My broody button quail hens tend to do something similar with running around like maniacs chattering and stomping her feet before preening and going in circles, but at times they will jump up also. Though mine never started panting or fell over. I think it is their nerves over leaving their eggs and wanting to get everything done, pooping, preening, exercise, water and food, as quickly as possible.

My broody chicken hens, will run around making grr noises and dancing, like saying "stay away this area is mine!"
Maybe that is what she is doing.
