They can lay any time of day. My girls have been laying for a just a couple of months now, so they're just getting started, but I've had one even lay at 7pm! Most of them lay in the morning - if I go out by noon/1pm, I can usually collect the eggs for the day. I'll still check in the evening JUST in case.
I've noticed that if one lays late in the afternoon or even in the evening, they'll take the next day off, and pick up the following morning. As I said, the majority of my girls lay in the morning, but there's no rule that says ONLY the a.m. Have fun collecting eggs!
