I was freakin out a bit, but now I think about it you're ABSOLUTELY right. We had a family meeting last night and put all our heads together and figured out some solutions to the low pay. I can make things to sell on Etsy during downtime, make next years Christmas gifts, work on my book, etc. etc. to make the downtime more productive and increase my output, thus increasing my pay

SOoooo...I'm on it, and more excited about this job the more I think about it. I will get some nose plugs for my weak stomach issues

and just take it in stride. Nothing else I can do. God grant me the serenity to accept the things I can't change, change the things I can, and have the wisdom to know the difference!!!! I'm SO there

You may want to have her family check to see if she qualifies for assistance - she may qualify for more money to pay for the help - and increase your hourly rate! I know that sometimes medical programs pay a set rate for someone who needs it.

This is one of life's 'gifts' -- a chance to do something for your family and to help this lady and her family --

she is blessed to be able to have someone as loving as you to care for her -- :)

Glad to hear it! You sound like you've got a great plan, and this could lead you somewhere wonderful. Regardless, you are doing a kind thing for someone who needs your help.

I really think this is a good idea. Not sure about your state but I have heard that they offer assistance. Not sure if the family qualifies but it will not do any harm to ask.

I am sorry you are going through a rough patch. I know that this is a different situation but similar in many ways. I was raised by my grandmother. She had alzheimers and my mother could not take care of her, my parents wanted to take her to a nursing home and I refused so I did everything I could to keep her comfortable. I kept up with it no matter how difficult it was. Believe me it was one of the hardest things I have ever done to watch someone you love not know who you are. I would feed and bathe her. I never thought I was that strong. I thought I would feel ill but honestly, it got easier. Since I did not want her to go to a home and of course I never got paid for it. The moral of this story is that you never know what your kindness will bring in the future. You will make your friend's mother so much more comfortable at home. Years later, I was having car trouble and my mother paid for my new car. She told me I deserved it and more for being there for my granny in her hour of need.

I am praying for you.

Nancy

I have a lot of respect for you because you are willing to take this job and keep a positive attitude. In tough times, attitude is what keeps you going. Be strong!

This.

Can you imagine how this poor lady must feel having to rely on a (for now) stranger to come in and attend to the most personal of needs?

She is probably nervous and your kindness to her will be a deed well done.

Thanks! That is what particularly worries me though...what IF I gag, that could embarass her, and I don't wanna do that. I feel like people in that position are feeling less dignified already, I don't want to make it worse!!!! I SOOOO hope I don't! Otherwise the job should be a HUGE blessing for ALL OF US!
