What to do for a week of post-surgery bed rest?

Have you tried playing Angry Birds? I don't know if it is only an app for smart phones or not but it is pretty addictive. Good luck with your recovery.

One of the times long past when I was confined to bed, I took an old pair of jeans and the sewing kit. Cut the pants off right at the crotch and sewed shopping bag number one, looks cute (gag) and sewn denim handles out of leg bottoms. The thigh sections were sewn into a drawstring bag, ripping out the inside leg seam to sew together the two legs into a sack. For a drawstring, I crocheted a heavy long bit with wildly colored leftover yarns.

I also crocheted scarves for EVERY sibiling in the family, even my sis in Arizona. Funny thing is, two weeks after she got it, they had real snow and she got to wear it.

It was still the worst; with fibromyalgia I get more pain if I don't move, making me want to not move even more. So being in bed days and weeks on end is torture.

Suggestions:
- Seed catalogs, garden planning.
- call your local library and see if they can get a volunteer to drop off bags of books and magazines.
- put an ice pack under your laptop to keep the battery from overheating and spend all your time on BYC.

Also, go to youtube and research your favorite subject and just randomly follow links. Look up things such as "train snowplows", "rocket stoves", "funny ads"... "trunk monkeys".
- IF ALLOWED, get some hand weights and at least keep your upper body strength going well.
- My sister once had the hospital ceiling tiles counted and memorized. I advise NOT doing that.
- minesweeper and solitare. Of course, being in a lying down position makes for awkward typing and you're likely to kill your wrist.

Ohhh. Skype people all over, but keep your camera pointed somewhere innocent, such as a lamp or plant.
