I was so excited about my 3 chicks, I went back today and got 2 more. I brought them home and my husband was really annoyed. He said we don't need that many, that 3 is fine. So in addition to my barred rock, wynadotte and ameraucana, I picked up a sexlink (??) and a California white pullet. I'm wondering if I should just try and give the two new ones back? The 3 that I had originally are really nice, my daughter is already kind of attached to the little white one, she holds it like a baby. BUT, I can't live with my husband if he's truly this upset.

What should I do? Anyone in Northern Cali want one/two of them??

Chicken Math:

3chicks + 2chicks = 3chicks

Sorry that he's that upset. Gotta do what you gotta do.

Keep the birds if you want them...
Hes not your father. You do not need permission to have 2 extra chicks. Please...
What the worst he will do?? Really?? Just pout some? Who cares??
Good god... Life is too short to worry about such stupid things.
Send him here...I'll have a few words with him for you....

The difference between caring for 3 chicks versus 5 chicks is not that big. It's when you go from 6 to 40 like I did!

I told my DH when I married him that he is going into this marriage with the full knowledge that I will be having all types of animals and that he has to go ahead and accept it.

You could give him a few days, but, you're the one that has to live with him. Just let him break the news to the kids.

You might mention to him that all chicks do not necessarily survive to lay eggs. You bought some "insurance" chicks! Then, take really good care of them and see if he doesn't soften up after a while....

Give it awhile, my husband was unamused at first, but now he loves them as much as I do.
