Not sure what all has been posted as far as advice and information. But, I'd like to help.
First question (AND THIS QUESTION IS HUGE!), is he neutered?
-Never, never, never adopt out a pit bull that isn't spayed/neutered. There's just too high of a chance of it contributing to a litter or ten! And the overpopulation of pits is overageous.
-If not already neutered, then do it BEFORE you adopt them out. Don't depend on the adopter to do it. Plus, it will decrease the chance of someone irresponsible (with less than stellar plans for the dog) wanting to adopt.
-If you can't afford it, there are MANY programs to assist you with the cost. Here's some to get you started:

Second, is he housetrained, cratetrained, and leash-trained?
-These are basic and necessary things every dog needs to know. Teach him these simple things and you will greatlt increase his chance of finding a FOREVER home. The goal is to get him into a home where he will be for the rest of his life, not just house-hopping.
Third, how socialized is he with children, cats, other dogs? eldery people? people in wheelchairs? Men with hats? beards?
-The more you know about what he can handle and how he will react to different situations, the more likely you can match him with a compatible home.
For more tips on how to place him and how to identify a good future home, visit here and read:

The average amount of time it takes a pit bull to find a good home is 6 MONTHS. Now, that's an average so sometimes it can take many years and sometimes its only a few days. If you're not ready to wait whatever amount of time it takes, then you need to hand him over to a rescue or put him to sleep. Now some rescues may be able to eventually take him, but seeing as pit bulls are WAY overpopulated, it's unlikely to happen soon. You're best bet, is to ask them to crosspost his info on their site and have potential adopters contact you. You may be able to get them to take him into rescue, IF you agree to be his foster home. That way they find his home and you just care for him until they do. I'd recommend that route if at all possible. Here's some rescues you can contact:

Ask these rescues for others nearby that might can help.
Also, I'd recommend joining the Pit Bull Forum (I'm on there under INOCNTKITN187). They can help you with training, housing, behavior questions, and possibly some other rescues in the area. The link to the site is
http://www.pitbullforum.com Be advised that you may NOT post owner surrenders on the site for adoption. But, you can ask questions for help as much as you like.
Best of luck with Superman! PLEASE keep me updated on him.
