Coon meat markets have been going on for ever. And acutally, I think FL is one of the biggest states for having a market for coon meat. However, most who buy for meat will want the carcass cleaned and skinned, just like a chicken carcass. Many trappers in various states have a contact man who they sell their coon carcasses to (usually about $2 a carcass) and that man will then resell to his clientele. Before getting involved in the meat market though, be aware it is not legal in all states.

When I was a boy we used to sell coons. Skinned and gutted but it was very important to leave one of the front paws attached. Got a couple of bucks apiece for them back in the seventies.

If one paw is left on so you can tell it's a coon..........think about how many people are eating dogs and cats!
