Everything I read suggests to candle before setting your eggs. What is it I’m looking for when candling that early?

You’re not going to see anything that early. The only way to tell if an egg is fertile is to crack it open and look for the “bullseye”. After about 3 days, you can see some veining while candling.

You're looking for cracks in the shell, calcifications, porous shells, and checking aircell size and placement. Early candling helps screen for which eggs are the best ones to set.

Good reply. I was thinking OP was looking for fertilized eggs by candling before setting. (I have seen such questions in the past.)
