When incubating what is the best thing to write on your eggs with?

Should I use a pen or a magic marker?

    Thanks [IMG]

From what I understand, pencil is the best as its not apt to clog the pores in the egg shell.
Those pores are how the oxygen and moisture are regulated to their external environment.

    Good luck and happy hatching!!!

I have used a fine point sharpie and a pencil - both worked well for me. I have also used a thicker sharpie when I was marking eggs under a broody. There were other hen laying under her too and I needed to make sure I got those eggs out daily and I needed to do it quickly before she tried to eat me![IMG] So the bolder the line the better in that situation. No ill effects on the eggs from it.

I just use a pencil. It works fine and stays on. except under a broody, all the pencil marks rub off.
