What to water in

can you use a regular chicken water for newly hatched chicks or is there something else I should try?

I use a regular waterer for our chicks. Just add marbles (or cleaned rocks, if you don't have marbles) into the drinking area so that they don't fall in and drown.

if you can't find honest-to-gosh marbles, those sort of slightly flattened glass 'blobs' they sell for craft purposes and putting in flower vases (check Walmart or a dollar store) work just fine too.

IF you ever plan on giving the ACV w/mother (Apple Cider Vinegar) do NOT use a metal container.
