My 8yo daughter (my little chicken farmer) will tell us to shhhh when we mention cooking chicken or buying fried chicken. She will say, "they are just right there and they are listening". She does say it with a smile on her face and it has never stopped her from enjoying chicken cooked in just about any way.

Yesterday mine had cooked (cold) brown rice and tomatoes. Today a few pecans.

Today was a few cucumbers and some zucchini. Later today they will get watermelon. I purposely planted extra cucumbers and squash in my garden for my girls so they get that plus other goodies nearly every day. Also, the only one in my house who likes tomatoes is my youngest daughter, but I still planted a few varieties for my chickens! My garden is fenced off from the rest of the yard, so I hope they don't figure out they can hop on over the fence! It'd be a free-for-all!!

chilled watermelon, cucumbers, carrot greens, tomatoes, zucchini, and grasshoppers... everything but the melon was from our garden... unfortunately so too were the grasshoppers. lol
