What treat did your chickies get today?

Snowy all day today so they never left the coop. I cooked up some rice and mixed in frozen peas and frozen corn to cool it down and fed it to them warm. They were pleased!

today my girls got a mix of spinach, broccoli, carrots, green peppers, cooked green beans, and azolla that I collected from the garden, shredded and froze over the summer. I mixed it with some hot beef broth (it was cold and snowy today) and they were some happy chickens. I collected enough for 1-1 quart bag per week during the frozen winter months.

Oatmeal with tomatoes, lettuce, plain yogurt and a couple of slices of bread shredded and mixed in ...yuk to me but they dove in

Today I smoked a couple of rabbits and I gave the chickens the carcass , also small homemade flock block and egg shells. I can't believe how much they love the egg shells!

Yesterday was my chickens first snow so they got some warm food in broccoli water.

I had some left over hoppin' john and rice so they got that mixed with some veggies all nicely warmed up in the microwave.
