And tomorrow I may go by and get some grapes, they always love those but haven't had any in a while.! You all give me so many ideas!!

hi, I have 4 backyard chickens who free-range but have access to layers pellets and water at all times. As there is hardly any grass left now I have been trying to supplement with greens. Looking through the forum it would appear most chickens are stomachs with legs but my 4 still refuse to eat any green veg I throw down fro them in the run. Am I doing something wrong? I have tried cabbage, sprouted mung beans, lettuce, spring greens with no luck. Any advice????

A couple of ideas; you can shred them and mix with oatmeal and scratch, shred and mix w/oatmeal, scratch, oyster shell, fruits and nuts mixed into an egg and syrup mixture and bake into muffins (mine love, love, love these) or you can mix rabbit pellets in with their feed pellets.

Left over steak bones with lots of meat left and left over baked potato scraps also half a head of cabbage. When I left for work the two grown girls and the 8 pullets were investigating the treats as it was the first time I had given them scraps but I expect it will be gone when I get home from work.

UPDATE: Steak and potato scraps are gone but cabbage is mostly untouched. You would think out of 10 chickens, 2 grown RIR and 8, 3 months olds the cabbage would have been eaten by now..

Mine got some leftover grits, vegetable soup, and greek yogurt.... As I was getting back from closing up my ladies and "treating" them, it had started sprinkling......then after stoking the fire, I looked out and saw some sleet on my back deck....all I see now is a little rain!
