What treat did your chickies get today?

I brewed up a batch of Red Ale yesterday, so yesterday and today they are getting the spent grains from the brew pot.
They love them, too.

I took them out some cheddar cheese & chopped banana , didn't last long , even if one has her bit if she see's another hen with some she drops her bit & chases the other hen around!? I wish they would quit bickering over food the greedy little monkeys

I thought mine were going to eat me alive this morning! Went to fill up the feeder to find I was out of pellets, so popped out to buy some. Their feeder was empty for maybe an hour.... And they have a big space with lots of greens & bugs in. I got mugged when I went back in, like they hadn't been fed for weeks!!

Lol I wish I could of filmed my husband ( who actually is frightened of my lovely hens) feeding the girls cheese! I really want him to see them like I do however ( although he is a big hard dog handler police man) is ridiculous around my girls, was so funny watching him , don't think he was ready for the ambush! They are very greedy, how do I get him to love them like me? He now thinks they are bullies! Lol which of course they are ,! I love them though

Pip, I wouldn't know what to suggest to you. For me it isn't a problem. My husband loves feeding BOSS and scratch to our feathered children. He even has a couple of hens that will eat out of his hand. He was all gruff when I first suggested getting chickens and was all..."Okay, fine...but don't expect me to get involved. This is YOUR hobby...etc, etc."

Nowadays he's out with me every morning to help feed them and every evening to collect eggs and throw them treats. He even goes into the garden with the express purpose of fetching them overripe veggies which he proceeds to cut up and feed to them. He is SO involved it's not even funny.

Yet, if asked, he'll always refer to them as "my wife's chickens". He doesn't want to ruin his tough guy reputation I guess.

Bought my first bag of scratch for my 11 girls. They loved it. I tried feeding out of my hand but that was a mistake so quickly threw it down in their little run. They seemed to really enjoy it. They are quite the singers when I come into the coop! Their feathers are so shiny. They're almost 4 months old

Our girls got blueberries, twice! My husband took some out, our Dorothy (she's the 'head hen') was starting for them when one of the cinnamon queens jumped right into the middle of the berries. Dorothy proceeded to flap her wings and chase Toast around the pen while the other four watched. Toast is either brave or foolish because she did the same thing later a couple of hours later.
