Mine got stuck in the coop all day because it was raining - again - and the yard is already wet. I gave them raisin bran crunch mixed with yogurt. Still felt guilty so before bedtime I gave them some warm apple sauce.
And still I get dirty looks when I tuck them in.
But they're so muddy already, and I didn't want the going to bed with a wet head, as well.
Only the Buffies were willing to give me some love, sweet little babies.
Read on here somewhere about yogurt. Had some stuff in the house a low carb yogurt from frys / kroger, vanilla. They couldn't eat it fast enough. I am learning much about treats and such and the obvious joy they show when stuff like that goes on is great to see. I am learning much in general from this site and things will be changing as soon as I can for our 4 birds. Not terrible but definitely not being treated as they should. I'm trying to make up for lost time.
Read up on what they should have and not have. If you won't eat it, don't give it to them. For extra protein while molting, we give them black oil sunflower seeds. For a special treat they will kill for dried mealworms.
