Curly French fries they loved them even the cats got involved in the free for all.

They found flies and grasshoppers on their own.

Gave them Cabbage, which they won't go near.

Tossed them a wooly worm I found, which sent them running and hiding. Sigh. Some days you can't win.

I'd call them cannibals, but egg yolk is a chick's first food.

I went to my local Hy-vee and bought $40 worth of fruit and vegetables for my little hens, including tomatoes, cabbage, celery, broccoli, and apples! I also bought plain yogurt for them and they absolutely adore it. And from an experienced chicken owner, I would stay away from maple syrup or ANYTHING with sugar, to much will need up killing with or making them gravely sick, I would stay away from any eggs also, they may be a good source of protein, but it may encourage egg eating

lol yes, when they lay, U probably will experience a bit of egg eating from a few hens, they will recognize the taste of the scrambled eggs U gave them and think it is ok since U gave it to them. It is then very hard to break them from eating their own eggs!

I feed my hens raw eggs all the time with out an issue. In fact in all the hundreds of birds I have raised, I have only had one egg eater, who came to me that way.

I have had many problems if I fed them eggs. Better to be safe than sorry

I'm sorry about that.

Egg eating hens are no fun. Do they get enough calsium/protein? I know once they start there's not really any way to cure them of the habit.

They are given oyster shells daily. I stopped it by taking an egg and poking a small hole in the bottom and top and blowing out the contents. Then I put in French Mustard so when they peck it, they won't do it again because they hate the taste of it!
