What treat did your chickies get today?

Mine got let into the fenced garden and demolished the broccoli:

Yesterday my girls were in the middle of the road enjoying a dead opossom.

They really go crazy for scrambled eggs with cheese, watermellon and of course bread.

A big pinch of "cranberry-flavored, freeze-dried mealworms" (a gift from Aunt Debbie, sheesh), a cup of whole oats, and 1/2 a baked pumpkin.

had a big shindig at work today and they gave us bag lunches. My 'veggie' bagged lunch consisted of what they think any good veggie would be happy to eat. A big soggy roll with mushy asparagus, a sad slice of tomato and some mushy carrots. Oh, and nicely browned lettuce. ROFL. Thankfully I brought my lunch. My eight hens demolished that sandwich in about two seconds flat with the exception of the carrots!

My girls got cut up cucumber, grapes BOSS and some fresh frozen grass from my stash of frozen clippings that I saved a good part of the summer. They are not free-range and their grass is relatively gone in their nice big run. I knew this would happen so I froze many zip locks of nice fresh grass. It lasts a long time in the refrigerator after you thaw it. They love it. I figured they could have fresh grass all winter !!

Mine got a a box of apples and sprouts that one of the local deli's was about to dump in the trash, lucky to be right there. Took the box home, minced up all the apples and fed it to the girls. They didnt care for the sprouts too much, but decided to peck at it after the apples were all gone.

had tomatoes for the ladies yesterday! I have heard that they love anything red, and when I got back to the coop later I found small bits of skin left. It had only been 2 hours for 1 large tomato!
