What treat did your chickies get today?

We have 3 rescued parrots, so our chickens get left over parrot food everyday. I work at a grocery store so about twice a week they also get produce scraps from the store. Bell peppers, apples, lettuce, cabbage, kale, etc. Can you tell, all our chicks are all spoiled.

For those people giving BOSS, are they in the shells? Mine won't eat them in the shell. (They scratch under the bird feeders and eat everything else but the BOSS). I suspect their vision is going bad because they seem to only eat light colored things. Dark stuff is overlooked.

My girls had cous cous with raisins. They didn't seem to like anything but the raisins. I guess there was a reason there was a huge bowl left after the luncheon at work! At least word is getting around to save unwanted leftovers for Jeni's chickens!

Mine got "dead pizza" and expired Roma tomatoes from work. "Dead pizza" is what my sister called the untopped pizza crusts that I brought them home from work last night. If we have pizza dough made up at close, we either make pizza to take home or just throw them away (after all, we are all tired of pizza)
I figured chickens like bread, so I just cooked them plain for the chickens. Yeah they looked kinda funny but the chickens figured out how to eat them pretty darn quick!

I am good friends with the boss, so I'm always getting throw-away food for the chickens. Spilled or "expired" food that is still chicken-quality = lower feed bill for me! I get tomatoes pretty often since they aren't the most popular topping (dunno why, they're REALLY good on pizza!!) and they have a short expiration date. Bell peppers are probably their least favorite, but they eventually disappear too. I used to get a lot of grilled chicken because it expires quick and the boss said it was morbid that I feed it to my chickens. I told him they didn't have a clue, and he just laughed. They still like sausage better, but it lasts "forever" so it's a rare treat.
