what type of feed do newly hatched quail eat?

Hi new to this I purchased 8 chicks from a farm up the road, he gave me a male quail 10 weeks old will I be able to feed him the chick crumbs or ?

Ideally you should feed him 24-30% chick starter/turkey starter/gamebird feed.... should be a crumble and not pellets.

I used to grind my turkey starter up but I haven't ground it for the last couple hundred quail and they eat the crumble just fine. Just my observation....

I bought a cheap little coffee grinder at Walmart for around $10. It makes quick work of the turkey starter.

+1 on the walmart coffee grinder. Made life easier and it seemed like there was less waste. As a bonus, when you get up to feed them at 5am and it’s dark and butt-cold, you can say stuff like: “Come get your damned coffee!” I found this way more amusing than the quails did, though.
