I feed my chickens a mix of whole grains consisting of wheat, oats, sunflower seeds, millet, peas and flax seeds, which i soak over night then ad a bit of mollasses. I supplement wiith kitchen scraps, meal worms, fishing worms, and occasionally I let them bob for minnows. I grow greens in my garden for them, like kale, turnip greens and swiss chard, They also have unlimited acces to free range on 1 1/2 acres of pine/oak forest in south east Georgia. I also keep my compost pile in their chicken pen so they can work and I provide granit grit and they have many oyster shells in the pen that they pick at. I supplement their water with ACV and a "tea bag" with garlic, oregano and basil. They drink from a nipple drip system. This is my first time eaising chickens I have SLW, 1 rooster and 3 hens which I expect to start laying by next month. I do NOT feed my chickens #2 feild corn, if they get corn, it is a treat, and it is the same sweet corn my husband and I eat. My chickens seam very happy and healthy

I feed my flock of 21 young bantams 22% starter/grower, as much as they want unless they spill it, then they get no refills till the mess is cleaned up. They also have a massive run to forage in for grass, bugs, and any other goodies they can find. All the weeds from the garden and around the house get thrown in for a 'chicken salad', as well as a majority of the produce from the veggie garden I planted with them in mind. They get extra greens, scrambled egg or wild bird seed a few times a week and have access to grit. When they are adult birds I will let them out into the yard in the afternoons to get fresh grass, but I haven't decided on their many food but I'd like to do higher protein pellets or attempt FF.

Mine get a mix of Layer Crumbles, Steam Crimped Oats, Crimped Corn, Scratch Grains, Sunflower Seed, Safflower Seed, Calf-Manna Pellets, & Poultry Conditioner Pellets. And fresh greens now and then "lettuce, cabbage, etc...", whatever is on sale.

I fed my chickens crumbles when they were chicks and switched to pellets as they've begun to lay. They don't like the switch (they're lazy and want easy eatables) but I'm trying my hardest not to feed them any treats while they adjust!

i feed them starter/grower dry, but i want to start FF soon. they also have a big run that they are in right now full of grass and weeds which will also get expanded soon. whenever the local fruit and veggie market is here i buy veggies and fruits like watermelon, papaya and pumpkin. they get bread fruit whenever i have abundance of it. once a day in the afternoon i collect almonds that have fallen from the almond trees and toss them in the run and they end up eating the almond fruit. every now and then they will also get my left overs like pasta, rice, bread, and any kind of meat like chicken or ground beef. sometimes they will get wild caught iguana and i toss them the head or skin to pick any meat off of. and last but not least i toss them bugs that i dig for whenever i feel like it.

I switched my young chickens from starter crumbles to all-flock pellets about a month ago and add a small amount of scratch grains-- this is available to them all day. At least several times a week they get veggie trimmings and fruit. They especially love tomatoes and melon. Occasionally I will treat them with dry mealworms, but they don't love them as much as the ducks do. Other treats include mixed birdseed, a mixture of oatmeal and ground flax, raisins, whatever is at hand - like the catnip my cat doesn't like. They are free range during daylight hours and can eat as many dandelions, grasses, dirt and bugs they can handle. Sand and grit freely available and I just started crushed eggshells today.
