What "type" of Peafowl Is This?

Thanks very much for the info! Now that I know he's still pretty much a baby, I feel bad that no one is looking for him or claiming him. If he sticks around, hopefully I can find him a mate to keep him company.

Hello, again, Peafowl Community!

So, this dude is still with me. He acts pretty lonely when he can't roost at night with my chickens (he tried roosting in their coop once, I don't know how he got himself up there since that coop is exactly the size to hold just him without the roosts in it), so I'm looking into buying at least 1-2 peahens to keep him company. The questions that are coming up for me are:

  • Do I try to find someone selling hens around his age?
  • If I can't find hens around his age (no sellers/can't afford the price/etc), how young could the hens be & still be integrated with him?
  • Are there any sellers/breeders in Colorado that are on this board that I can get into contact with?

Thank you for all the help and incredibly resourceful articles posted here. :)

You could buy this years hatch hens and they would mature at the same time as your cock. If you come to Ks. I can hook you up with hens.

Thank you! I actually found someone who will be in state next weekend that I'm going to buy from. Now, I feel better about buying 2015 hatches, though. :)
