If I dose the chickens with safeguard for 5 days, do I then redoes in 10 days? I have a confirmed case of roundworms.

If you wan to dose for *just* roundworms and/or cecal worms, you can dose *once* and repeat in 10 days. Capillary worms and gapeworms require the five days. Some people say no need to redose in 10 days if dosed 5 days in a row, but I have heard of two vets that had people repeat the five day dose in ten days.

Thank you! I'll probably redose in 10 days. I found out that they have roundworms because it showed up in my dog's fecal test. She eats chicken poop like it is her job. The vet said that they can't hurt the dog, though.

Eimeria (coccidiosis - keeping an eye on that. No symptoms in the hens right now) and heterakis (roundworm). The vet called me because she was confused, as neither of them are dog parasites. As long as the dog doesn't have diarrhea, there is no reason to be concerned for her, according to the vet. I'm treating the chickens for roundworm and keeping an eye on the cocci situation.

There will always be cocci in feces just as there are ecoli in feces. It's when the microscopic slide is loaded with cocci oocysts is when there's a problem and birds need to be treated. However even only one poultry worm oocyst on a microscopic slide should be an indication to worm your chickens as you have stated you're doing. As you know, chickens hide symptoms of parasite damages and diseases until the last minute when they are overwhelmed. Dogs have their own specific worm and cocci parasites. The poultry parasites should not have any effect on your dog at all.

That is what the vet told me. I'm concerned about the cocci, but he vet seemed to think it was a rabbit or goose parasite, so I'm not panicking yet. I have a stock of corid, so I'm ready if need be. Thank you for your help!
