what unusual food did you feed your flock today?

I just emptied a bag of alfapha cubes for the cows which renders a large amount of loose shreds in the bottom of the bag so I have been giving them a handful a day with their scratch feed and they got a slice of cinnamon raisin bread too! They will feast tomorrow because we are having salad tonight!

Gave the new pullets a mush mix of
their commercial food (crumbles)
oats
scratch
stale "special K"
stale raisen bran
sprinkle of cayenne pepper
My son soaked it in warm water for the 45 mins he took getting ready for class.
He nuked it for 25 sec's then carried it down to the coop, steaming all the way.
dropped the bowl on the floor of the coop and before he could pull the waterer of the coop to refresh it; the girls were on it like mad....too cool

I hung a head of cabbage in my run and my chickens wouldn't touch it, they acted like they were scared of it, so I ended up having to take it down and tear it apart before they would eat it. I hope yours won't be "chicken" about it!

Ok I know this is terrible but I fed my chickens left over chicken and rice!!! They loved it, guess they don't know what they taste like anyway!
