what unusual food did you feed your flock today?

I gave mine some left over chili today. I picked out the beans and deer sausage which they loved!!

I got my first chickens yesterday

and this morning I fed them steel cut oats mixed with crushed hardboiled eggs (storebought ones ..yikes!) shells and all. Of course I got the idea from you guys. Storey's doesn't put much stock in fancy schmancy chicken breakfasts. My girls were so happy that one of them marched right into the coop and laid an egg for my breakfast. What a sweetheart!

Just got my pullets 3 days ago and have yet to give them anything more than warm oatmeal. This is exciting stuff and a great thread.
Oh..I did try a couple grapes but they only played with them then lost interest.
I hope this thread is going during summer treat time. I'm looking forward to netting and then hanging a whole cabbage head for them....hilarious I'll bet

Mine got yogurt, leftover homemade baked beans, pizza, apples, a couple handfuls of wildbird seed--the kind with the millet and peanuts etc.. they LOVE that!

Leftover meatloaf, mac & cheese and broccoli ~ I was cleaning out the fridge. They went for the meatloaf first ~ one grabbed a chunk and the chase was on. Why is it that they all want the same piece when there is a lot more in the dish?
