We bought a chick a couple years back at the local D&B Farm and Home. He was in the 99 cent bargain bin with a lot of little other day-old chicks of all types. I saw him there and thought he was a silver-laced Wyandotte and assumed he was a rooster, being the price he was.
Well, he grew into a pretty boy but not exactly what I thought he was going to be. He dropped dead last year, possibly his heart gave out.
His markings are interesting and I wish I had better pics of his front. He did have lacing on most of his breast feathers but it was contained to the ends. It was like a spangle pattern was limiting the lacing. Hope this makes sense.
I spent hours on the computer trying to figure out what he was. FeatherSite did have a pic of a silver-laced Rock and that was the closest pic I could find that looks like he did. I was so excited when I saw this part of the forum, maybe you guys can figure this out.
Thanks,
Carolyn

I'm gonna say you're probably right about him being a Silver Laced Rock. Or he could have been a single comb Silver Laced Wyandotte (I can't remember where I read that the single comb fault can happen in the breed).

He sure was beautiful.

Thanks we do miss him, but we have his children and hatched some of his grandkids last week in our bator.
Also, I am enjoying all of your ideas on him.
I'll see if I can find a better front view of his breast. Most of his spangles in the front were U-shaped.
