What we do with pregnant stray cats (do not be afraid to look)

The info about snake feed is so true. Smiling grandmas will get the cats for their grandsons. and you will never be the wiser but we all have callings in this world.. just trust the Lord.

But I just must say what happened to me while I "saved" 5 kittens from sure death. I found the litter sitting on a neighbors porch. the mother cat was already pregnant with her next litter and these babys were lying arond in 5 different degrees of death.
I asked if I could have them to fix up and home and was given them. I took them home and babied them so, wormed them, gave them their shots and got the parasites off of them. Cleaned the yeast from their ears along wih the mites and they turned into gorgoeous kittens.
They have homes now and are happy.
Then about a week after they left, I was noticing the back of my hand where one of them "stabbed" me with a claw. It looked strange. It had been there at least 4 weeks and instead of healing it was healed on top but not inside. I had to cut the top off and let this gush of infection and blood escape. Then several more sores came up on my hand and the same with them. they woud heal over on the outside but remained very active under the skin.
I d r'd with neosporin and peroxide and did the best I could, then one night about 2am I woke up with a fever so high I was calling out for my dead grandma. I was delerious and sick sick sick. By morning I had a huge swollen lymph node under my arm and was in great pain with that much less the feeling of havaing a bad case of the flu.
I went t the dr and he told me that I had "cat scratch disease" a disease uaually for children, me an old woman having cat scratch disease.! He told me that I would be lathargic, and tired and sleepy and no appetite until the 'innoculaton site" on my hand heals up. Could take months.
The sore looks just like a small pox scar. ecept it has a hole in the middle that has a core that has to b removed often. each time i remove it it gets smaller and smaller. and Im looking forward to the morning when I wake up and the frggging thing is healed.
I dont think Ill be rescuing many more kittens in my life time.. Ill leave it to yall younger crowd. leslie

We have 11 cats out at my grandma's now thanks to strays having kittens. Its kind of difficult to spay a cat when you didnt ask for it and cant afford it. I feed them so I consider them mine, but you know I wouldnt be allowed a cat if a stray hadnt had the cats there now. People just need to be more responsible. Two years ago we had one cat, now we are up to eleven. Im worried!

She is lovely, one of my cats had 6 beautiful kittens two weeks ago, sadly I am now attached to them all, but cant think of having a total of 8 cats in the house......where can I hide them methinks......

Agree that some people (using the term loosely) are monsters when it comes to animals, how they can abandon animals is something beyond my reasoning! Well done you for taking her in, I LOVE white cats, keep us posted on her "delivery"

I have 7 indoor cats and two patroling outdoors, all the product of a strays or drop-offs. I know it's expensive, but I take them in for shots and to be fixed. Then if I can find homes good homes for them, I rehome them and if not....like I said I have 7 indoor cats and two more outside

I hate it when irresponsible people dump cats, dogs, ect anywhere even the pound! My whole life i have rescued cats. My first (keeper) was a little tiny girl layed out in the street corner only a few months old and VERY pregnant to the point that she could barely waddle down the street. I took her in, fed and bathed her, and helped deliver the kittens (one breach) She had 5 total and all were very healthy and adorable. I found homes for all and kept her. As soon as the babies were rehomed i took her to the vet to be spayed and given shots. I had her for 13 years until she passed from diabetes but i figure she had a wonderful life. I wish i had room for one more cat i would take her in a heartbeat!

Thank you so much for taking her in. She is beautiful. My cat came to me pregnant. She looked around 1 year old. She had 4 kittens, 2 girls, and 2 boys. I kept the 2 girls and her, and another family member took the 2 boys. All were spayed and neutered. Im so glad I took her in. People that dump animals are disgusting, imo they dont even deserve to live. If you get an animal, its for life.

Gorgeous cat. Good luck whatever you decide. (I wish you lived closer to me, I'd take her, or at least one of the kittens.)

i'm so glad you have her and not some mean person

She is such a beautiful cat! I bet she has beautiful babies!

Just yesterday we went to an animal auction. In these little cages, and I mean little, were all these puppies. Then we looked in a small cat kennel and someone had dropped off this adult long haired daushound. It was such a terrible situation. You couldn't even see the poor thing through the door it was so small. To top it all off they had been all laying in these cages for probably a day, so they all smelled something horrible.

We had my ten year old DD with us. She was crying and begging for us to get one. We told her we would see what happens. Well of course the puppies went fast and sold with no problem. The poor daushound nobody wanted. I guess because he was an adult. Needless to say we are now the proud owners of a long haired daushound for $1.00. He is a great dog. Needs neutured but he is so sweet, housebroken, and very loving. I can't believe someone would just throw out a dog like this. We don't even know what his real name is so my DD has named him "Lucky" because he was lucky to find us!

Whats sad is that around here most of those dogs and cats are stolen from families and sold at the flea markets. There is oneflea market in particluar that we see a lot of people out looking for their pet that was stolen from them. Beautiful cat, too bad you can't put her on a Greyhound and send her down here. She would have it made here with my 3 year old to love her.
