OHbluecoop sorry to hear about your dog and the jersey and chicks
after thinking about what people said and all I know that my incubator has more vent holes than my hatcher so that is what I am going to do-----this is my second "try" the first one didnt go so well either but it was in the incubator and I hatched 4 chicks but 2 died ( they burnt up in the bator because I thought I was supposed to leave them in for a day and it was too hot) and I had ALL the vent holes open and still kept humidity up BUT (I kept the vents open) WIDE!!! Being this was only the second time around I forgot this detail....It also seems very important to have a balance of humidity, high but not too high. I think I am going to stay closer to 60% next time instead of aiming for 70%.from day 18 on. I do believe the weather may have had something to do with the humidity spike.
when I transferred my eggs to the hatcher it may have been a sudden change
also the part about low humidity and temp from days 0-18, my humidity was closer to 20% most of the time and my temp was 99.5-99.1 so I want to raise those up a bit
OHbluecoop How were your temp and Hum the 0-18 days?
Thanks for the good wishes Smittys, equine chick and TuffOldHen
