What went wrong? VERY GRAPHIC

Actually, it looks like the top arm is missing. wait they dont have arms. Something looks off.

Please excuse me, I have very bad eyesight(Hello clearlensectomy in the spring!) I just assumed it was a "hand" because my birdbrain forgot they don't HAVE those, lol. So, not only is it missing claw parts, it looks like it isn't where it is supposed to be? Or is it just the picture angle. I've hatched successfully with these parents before, so I don't know what could go wrong here.

With a still air, add no water until day 18. At that time, add warm to lukewarm water.. The temperature AT THE TOP of the eggs should read about 101-101.5 degrees. These are optimal conditions. 102 is just a mild spike. I highly doubt any harm was done.

Good luck on this bunch!!!

possible causes (from here: http://edis.ifas.ufl.edu/aa204 )
Sign: Malformations. Causes:

Improper egg storage.

Jarring of eggs or transporting large end down.

Heredity.

Nutritional deficiencies, e.g., biotin, riboflavin, zinc, or manganese.

Inadequate turning.

Improper egg orientation, e.g., small end up.

High or low incubator temperature.

Breeder diseases.

Inadequate ventilation or shells with low porosity or permeability.

I want to say that you should really check your thermostat. I got a digital body temp thermometer to calibrate my digital thermometer. I calibrated a little giant incubator thermometer, by putting it in water, and when it was calibrated I tried to take my temperature, and the thermometer said my temperature was 95 degrees, so I guess my glass thermometer had a crack in it or was faulty. I don't know.

I've had over a dozen eggs including a few due yesterday, still not hatch.. I do hear peeping in one due today so I got my fingers crossed

Good Luck!!!! I had yet another failed attempt last week- these chicks were much smaller dead, I had terrible temp swings that time. I moved my incubator to a different room, and set 13 more 2 days ago. I expect some not to hatch, as it was an experiment using my new pullet eggs:)
