I got this hen as a young adult so I don't know her pedigree for sure, but she sure looks like a Delaware Buff mix. She has the nicest personality, just love her!If you cross a Buff Orpington rooster with a Delaware hen the chicks would be sex-links (according to Tadkerson's very helpful sticky). What color would the resulting pullet chicks grow up to be? Would they look kinda like a buff columbian?
Has anyone done this cross? Thanks!![]()
The white ones look just like my Delawares. The red one is RIR or RIR mix. I have RIRs, Cinnamon Queens, Red Stars & ISA Browns, she looks alot like my RIRs & Red Stars.Hi everyone, I’m in a similar situation. I have some chickens I rescued and have no idea what they are or their sex. Can someone help identify. They are about 8 weeks old and are as big as my full grown Easter Egger.
Thank you for your help. Ya I definitely think they look like them I just wasn’t sure because they are so big. The red one is bigger than my Australorp at only 8 weeks. The white ones look just like my Delawares. The red one is RIR or RIR mix. Delawares are dual purpose, mine are laying eggs & lots of them. They'll die of old age here with me.They kind of look like some sort of meat bird or meat cross.
That’s true but even still, they wouldn’t grow THAT fast would they? I had one before but I don’t really remember. I do know she ate a lot though and was quite big. But idk how fast she grew.Delawares are dual purpose, mine are laying eggs, they'll die of old age here with me.![]()
