What would just take the head?

Last night something killed one of our chickens -- only the head was gone and a few feathers. . . whatever it was didnt dig in, so it would have to be somehting that can climb, any ideas?

Weasels will often just eat the head.

weasel, mink, skunk... racoons usually will take the whole bird.

owls often do that to pheasants. they grab them by the head and it won't hold the weight esp. with the quick jerking movements they make as they grab and go.

if nothing dug in, sometimes a racoon will reach through and grab the chicken and because it won't fit through the fence they take the head.

Thanks, I was thinking possum, but it could be a coon . . . is there anything I can do?

Find every hole or gap bigger than a quarter and seal it.
