What would make a hen lay two eggs in a short amount of time?

I have a hen in the house healing from an injury and when I went to let her out to stretch a little while ago I discovered she laid two eggs this morning. Does that just happen sometimes or is there something that causes it?

Were they normal in appearance? Sometimes an egg will get stuck in the chute and another egg will come up behind it, usually resulting in a problem. I had a hen become egg-bound, and after a warm soak, she "gave birth" to a normal egg, following an hour later with a shelless egg.

Both eggs were completely normal in appearance, and she's been laying one day for the last few months. I was just so surprised to see two in the dog crate today.

If those eggs were normal, and your hen is behaving normally, chalk it up to being just a fluke.
