What would you do with the low income of this nation?

I am eatin some right now, dear. My fiance's check has been cut to the tune of about $800/month. It is temporary... but still 8 months to do that is a long time with a family of 5.

I guess we would be considered "poor" by a lot of people if they knew how much we actually make, but we are happy with what we have. You wouldn't know how poor we really are by our house. We've spent 10 years remodeling it into a 'show' home -- people come over ooo-ing and aw-ing, and think we're rich. ha ha.
The guy who rents our back cottage is a garbage-man and he makes a lot more money than we do!

A lot of our friends seem to be having employment problems lately.

I am spending at least $15 more each time I go to the grocery store.​

$15 more is all? I swear it seems to go up WEEKLY! I am getting less and less at the store for more money, and all the products are shrinking. Like we aren't going to notice!

I don't really understand the question...what would I do with them?
Like, kill & eat them? Hate on them because it makes me feel superior? There's probably some of "them" among us, I'm guessing; haven't read the comments yet.
I guess what I'd do would be give "them" well-paying, meaningful jobs with full medical benefits. I'd also give them a sense of hope for the future and a sense of power to encourage them to work toward their dreams. Crazy, huh?
I guess I'd also encourage others to educate themselves about the cultural context of poverty, and also to read Barbara Ehrenreich's book "Nickled And Dimed: On Not Getting By In America". It's a real eye-opener.

I have a specific group of foods that I buy for my health every week. Those items alone are $15 more!​

Our stores are exspensive. Thank god for coupons (but they do so much) We spend at least $200+ a week and the bottom of the reciept says we save $125.00 or more. Imagine if we did not use coupons! We are barely scraping by and after what my moms b/fs BIL did to screw us over. We can barely afford anything.

Now with the low incom. I would get rid of free trade and tax other countries if they want to sell their stuff here and get rid of a lot of big chain stores. I am not saying to wipe them out of america but how many walmarts do we need in NJ? we have 2 that are 15 min away from us. We should bring back the pa and ma shops and give american there jobs back. Lower taxes instead of raising them. Its not right that so many american are losing everything they worked hard for.

The problem with coupons is that most of them are for foods I can't or won't eat, and would never feed to my children!

I WISH the stuff we eat would put out coupons.

our coupoons range from alot of stuff. salads - meats. Plus cleaners but I dont think scrubbing bubbles taste good
